A Running Route
This series captures the quiet beauty of a lake near her home in Den Bosch, the Netherlands where she currently resides. The lake has become deeply meaningful to her as an immigrant navigating life in a foreign country. It is where she runs as part of her daily workout routine - a physical release which allows her to process feelings of loneliness, frustration, and the longing for belonging.
Each drawing represents scenes she encountered during these runs. Watercolor pencil’s soft and fluid nature mirrors both the tranquility of the water and the complexity of her emotions. The delicate play of light and shadows in the landscape reflects her journey of finding peace and grounding herself amidst the challenges of being a stranger in a new place.
Through this series, she not only depicts the physical beauty of the lake but also expresses her internal dialogue - a balance of solitude and comfort, melancholy and hope.
